Maxx is a collection of psycho-acoustic technologies that bring professional sound to consumer electronics products. For big sound from small speakers, nothing compares to Maxx!

MaxxBeam™ Microphone-Array Noise Suppression

Based on microphone-array technology (also known as beam-forming), MaxxBeam differentiates between the signals inside the beam and signals outside of it. This allows MaxxBeam to suppress stationary and non-stationary noise from outside the beam, while providing optimal sound quality and clarity. MaxxBeam’s Real-time Configurable Beam Direction lets users instantly focus the array from narrow directional beams for single users to wider beams for conference calls.

MaxxBeam offers tremendous microphone placement flexibility, and works with any matching microphone pair at distances between 10mm and 120mm. MaxxBeam is perfect for consumer-grade microphones, and its Automatic Microphone Calibration compensates for differences in microphone pairs. Best of all, MaxxBeam simplifies hardware design, and is compatible with a wide variety of microphone types.

  • Reduces noise, improves intelligibility
  • Automatic microphone calibration
  • Support for various microphone types
  • Flexible microphone placement
  • Real-time configurable beam direction
  • Single user and conference modes
  • No bundled hardware required

MaxxVolume™ for Dynamics Compensation

MaxxVolume is an all-in-one volume control, with High Level Compression to increase RMS levels, Low Level Compression to increase the clarity of soft sounds, Noise Gating to eliminate signal and system noise, and Leveling to smooth out volume levels. Plus, MaxxVolume can be used to implement intelligent, manufacturer-defined ear protection mechanisms.

MaxxBass® for Low Frequency Extension

Patented Waves MaxxBass¨ psycho-acoustic bass extension delivers a more natural sound than traditional bass boost technologies, which use EQ and can overpower your system. MaxxBass analyzes low frequencies to create harmonics which are perceived as lower, deeper tones.

MaxxTreble™ for High Frequency Enhancement

MaxxTreble delivers crystal clear high frequency enhancement, for increased RMS without exceeding the system ceiling. Its proprietary algorithm restores luster to over-compressed formats, for the perfect listening experience.

MaxxEQ™ for Full Spectrum Frequency Equalization

MaxxEQ gives you the power to design EQ curves and shape your sound with surgical precision, using up to 10 programmable filters with bell, shelf, low pass, and high pass, plus adjustable frequency, gain, and Q parameters. MaxxEQ’s intuitive Graphic User Interface makes click-and-drag filter design fast and easy.

MaxxStereo™ for Wide Stereo Imaging

Based on the Waves professional S1 processor, MaxxStereo extends the span of stereo side content while maintaining the integrity of unprocessed center content. MaxxStereo improves the stereo separation of speakers, widening the stereo field for optimal imaging.

MaxxDialog™ for Clearer Dialog

MaxxDialog, the newest addition to the MaxxAudio family of sound processors for computers, televisions, MIDs and ultra-portable devices, is setting new standards for sound quality and clarity. End users can now enjoy clear, crisp dialog that doesn’t vanish behind loud music and effects. Based on Waves Center pro audio plug-in, MaxxDialog lets users adjust center channel levels without affecting the rest of the audio mix.

Using patented Waves technology, MaxxDialog ensures that pivotal dialogue information is not lost behind loud music and effects.

Many films on television and DVD are distributed with no consideration for the smaller dynamic range of home playback equipment. Films mixed for cinema exhibition are optimized for a playback level of 85 dB, which is much louder than most consumer listening environments. Normal home playback levels and smaller loudspeakers often result in a feeling that dialogue is quiet and music and sound effects are annoyingly loud. MaxxDialog identifies mono information, such as dialogue, and enables the end user to adjust its level independently. The result: intelligible dialogue and comfortable music and effects without compromising the film’s original mix.

MaxxDialog is based on the Waves Center pro audio plug-in, used by top audio engineers around the world to zero-in on a song’s phantom center and raise or lower vocals without affecting the rest of a mix. MaxxDialog offers developers a simplified interface that facilitates integration into consumer devices.
